Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics holds a conference to study the book “Some theoretical and practical issues on socialism and the path to socialism in Vietnam”

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang, member of the Politburo, President of Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council reported at the Conference The conference was held at HMCA and connected online to the entire system of political schools in centrally-controlled cities and provinces  nationwide. The book titled "Some theoretical and practical issues on socialism in Vietnam" by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong consists of 29 articles and speeches by the General Secretary since the preparation of the 13th Party Congress Documents until the end of 2021. Thereby, the General Secretary focused on answering the following questions: What is socialism? Why did Vietnam choose the socialist path? How to gradually build socialism in Vietnam? How significant are the “Doi Moi” and the construction of socialism in Vietnam over the past years? And what issues does it raise? The General Secretary also brought forward the questions “How do we define socialism?  How can the path to socialism be suitable to Vietnam’s particular condition and characteristics?” This is a valuable document that has both theoretical and profound practical value. It summarizes the theory of the “Doi moi” and the unique creative developments of the Communist Party of Vietnam on the model of socialism in Vietnam based on creative application of Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh's thought. The book content becomes an important guideline and orientation to help cadres, Party members and the people have better understanding of socialism and the path to socialism in Vietnam, creating ideological unity in the whole society, promoting the strength of the great national unity to realize the strategic goals chosen by the Party, President Ho Chi Minh and the People. The conference is broadcast online to political schools nationwide At the conference, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang spent time discussing and deeply analyzing the contents, guiding views, goals and tasks set out in the book and articles of the General Secretary. He emphasized that the book is the crystallization of wisdom that inherits the ideology through many terms of the Party, the Central Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat, headed by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. He also pointed out that the book represents the thinking and strategic vision of the leader of our Party. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang emphasized the methodology and approach to principles about socialism and the path to socialism in Vietnam, including: the steadfastness of Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh's thought, inheritance and development, a smooth combination of theory and practice. Moreover, socialism and the path to socialism in Vietnam have to be consistent with Vietnam's reality, in line with the trend of the times, always focusing on human goals, with the basic characteristics of “rich people, strong country, democracy, justice and civilization”. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang highlighted two factors determining the success of the Vietnamese revolution: the Party’s leadership;  considering people as the root, the center, the subject, and the original strength of the “Doi Moi” process, construction and defense of the Fatherland. He also pointed out three important factors on Vietnam's path to socialism: a socialist-oriented market economy, a socialist rule-of-law state of the people, by the people, and for the people, and Socialist democracy in Vietnam. This is a political and ideological activity which makes core cadres, officials, Party members and the people in the Party Committee of the Academy deeply aware of theoretical issues about socialism, the path to socialism in Vietnam and the reality of our people's revolutionary struggle over the past 90 years, especially after more than 35 years of implementing the “ Doi moi”. The conference aims to raise political consciousness and courage, steadfast ideological stance, as well as apply and creatively develop Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh's thought into the practical situation of Vietnam. It helps strengthen and consolidate confidence in the Party's leadership, the State's management and administration, the unity of thought, will and action in the army and society.
